Jayme Marshall

I have been creating art jewelry for more than 30 years, working primarily with fine and sterling silver, touches of gold, gemstones, sea glass, pearls, and flame-worked glass. I enjoy experimenting with techniques that bring texture, patina, and distinctive forms to each piece. One of my favorite methods is Keum-boo, an ancient Korean gilding process. More recently, I have incorporated antique impression dies into my practice, expanding the design possibilities in my work.

Much of my inspiration comes from mythological imagery and symbolism across wisdom traditions, particularly the ways they connect us to our inner nature and our place in the world. I strive to create imaginative collections that unite movement, light, texture, color, and symbolism.

Jayme lives in the historic village of Burkittsville, MD. For the past five years, she has operated a studio and gallery on the corner of the town square, opening to the public on weekends. In September 2026, she moved to a storefront in Brunswick, MD, where she maintains a metalsmithing studio that uses both traditional and modern methods to handcraft one-of-a-kind artisan jewelry. She also expanded the gallery to feature work by other local metalsmiths and artists.

Jayme began exploring metalsmithing in college and continued her studies through the Maryland Institute College of Art Jewelry Certificate program. She regularly attends workshops to refine her skills and remain connected to the art jewelry community. She recently joined the Valley Craft Network, an association of artists who work in Middletown Valley and is host to the state’s oldest studio tour, now in its 45th year.

Jayme recently retired after four decades of developing, managing, and evaluating behavioral health programs at the local, state, and federal levels. Throughout her career, she relied on art for inspiration and grounding. Although she has explored a variety of artistic media, metalsmithing has remained her passion and primary mode of expression.

Jayme holds a B.S. in Education and an M.S. in Counseling Psychology from Florida State University.
